I know you need an ftp program, but only sometimes, (as many have online site builders/publishing interfaces),
so why have, say TEN ftp accounts, included with a web hosting package, which only permits one domain? ie user?
What are ftp accounts for, when included in a web host package?
For you to be able to post files up to the server. Can setup different accounts to default to different directories, so can do auto-publishing from your editor.

You should be able to permission certain accounts to have limited access to specific folders on your server. This will allow the added security to sensitive information in an environment where multiple developers are accessing your application.
Kinda like a %26quot;Need To Know%26quot; basis.
Other Replys:FTP account
Files Transfer Protocol used by some programs
like Front Page to publish your website
Can also use the FTP account information
with an FTP client like WS_FTP_LE
to place files directly on your web space
in any directory or a new directory
Under no conditions should you ever disclose
the FTP account info to anyone
It is not as said above used to give people access in anyway
It is for YOU and ONLY you to use
Other Replys:Often businesses or organizations have multiple ftp accounts so that there is one super-user account with full permissions to add/remove/overwrite files, and then other accounts either with different levels of permissions or for specific people/users. There can be multiple users accessing one domain.
Other Replys:ftp file transfer protocol used for transfering files from your pc to hosting server.
When you tranfer files and images then people can see those by going into your website.
like if you added index.html file from your pc to sever and you have domain name like http://www.bradford-webdesign.co.uk then it can be accessed as http://www.bradford-webdesign.co.uk/inde...
Also it depends on where did u tranfer file and can be accessed accordingly.
More than one ftp are only useful if one website is maintained by more than one user then u can assign different user with thier username password to access.
hopefull y this will help to understand.
best regards
