I wanted to host my friend%26#039;s and mine%26#039;s site as in a domain like:
www.The-domain-name.com
I wanted to set up my own network or something but if not possible, may I ask for safe and reliable host that gives us our own domain name like the above example? It does not have to be free.
Installing an http server on computer?
The cost of going through a host out ways the cost of hosting your own. You will need a DSL account, a Static IP. Then you will have to do port forwarding on your router to get outside www traffic to see the server inside your machine. A static IP is anywhere from 5 - 99 dollars a month depending on your ISP. Some will allow you to purchase 1 other make you purchase a block of 6 or more. Then you need a router that will allow port forwarding. If you have cable modem that the ISP gave you, they usually don%26#039;t allow you to configure them. Then you have to purchase a firewall to do all port configuration.
Some domain hosting companies now are real cheap. You may have to put their adds on your site to reduce cost, but you don%26#039;t have all the overhead of configuring a router and building a network. There is also a security issue if you let www traffic in. If your web server is on your home PC, once someone has access in, they can get access to your whole machine.

Visit http://www.doteasy.com That%26#039;s the best way to get a website host and domain name at a reasonable price... just $26 per year.
Good luck and Happy Computing!
Other Replys:You have several choices. Microsoft office live has one for free. You get a domain name, website and email for %26quot;FREE%26quot;.
The reason why I chose this one is because its pretty much ad free except for the little spoof at the bottom that says %26quot;microsoft office live.%26quot;
But they host it and you don%26#039;t.
If you want to do your own, start at the top and go to Networksolutions.com. They even give you the templates and a package that gives you your own domain name and support for dns resolution to your IP. If you have any questions just shoot me an email.
I hope this helps, good luck : )
