Hi, if you have a domain name that you have email set up on one server and the site hosted on another, where do you point the name servers... to the hosting account or the email. If we point to the hosting the email doesent work, if we point to the email the site appears down.
Name Server Question....Can one Host a website on one server but manage email on another?
It%26#039;s actually possible to have your domain name point to your website hosted at A, yet pull up email handled at B. The tricky part is knowing what DNS records to create for those purposes appropriately.
Basically you%26#039;ll need to use someone%26#039;s nameservers with an online function to let you create Address (A) records, Mail eXchange (MX) records, Canonical NAME (CNAME) records, etc. You create any of those DNS records I mentioned based on whatever info you have from your website and email providers.
Without going into technical detail, explain to both website and email providers what you want to achieve. Then ask if they can provide some information on the subject.
