How can i host my own webserver on my own computer? Does anyone know a good program that isnt complicated?

First of all you need a static ip, you can get that from your internet service provider if you dont have it,

Second use a package which gives you unlimited data transfer/bandwith

Third The speed the transfer rates should be atleast more than 64Kbps if your site is just going to be a simple,

and if its gonna be a complex bigshot site then 128+ Kbps would be good for you or eeven more

Fourth i guess to be asking this question, you probably should be having enouhg money to pay for your internet bill, %26amp; electricity bill

As for the program you need, Any good and secure and well known webserver, depending on your need,

And hey at last a warning = be prepared for lots of trouble, :) best of luck

You can find very thing about host here : www.hyperhostel.com Report It

Other Replys:Hi, can you tell me how did you make your computer a host for your website?

thanks,

emm Report It

Other Replys:its not recommended you use your own pc as a server.. be prepared for MASSIVE lag

get a webhost that has gigs of space and bandwidth; x10hosting.com offers a plan with 2.5 gb and 45 gb bandwidth

if you join up tell them spartan erik referred you

Other Replys:ok, i have a question for you, what type of ip do ye have is it static, or dynamic, if its static, then the answer is yes, if not, then you%26#039;ll need to sign up with a isp that%26#039;ll give you that option, why is all this important, well, static ip means that you%26#039;ll always have the same address, otherwise, well, you%26#039;ll need to find someone better

Other Replys:Programs, good or less good exist; plenty. But what you want and try to do it%26#039;s not quite simple. Also, you must have a good and fast connection and knowledge about security .

Other Replys:Hi

I think hosting something on your computer especially on the cable or dsl bandwidth is not too good. You might get a clog and traffic generated in your pc. Thus the following things might appear

1. Hack attempts

2. Traffic generation. Thus you might not be able to browse or people might not be able to access your site or you might get heavy bills.

Somebody will be making use of your computer. But if you still want to use your computer as web server, the simplest thing is putting IIS on your PC. I think IIS is built only server edition of windows. You can also try IIS in XP. That might have less features and might have some restrictions. The other one would be Apache in Windows which is also quite simple to use and Install.

My advice would be trying to choose some hosting provider who can help you to run a dedicated server or shared hosting. Nowadays shared hosting is available GB space with so many features and good price. They also provide with good control panel, where you can manage everything by yourself easily. Try selecting good provider rather than going only with cost.

Some of them I use are

All of them have GB plan. Indian provider might be cheaper and also you get local support

www.verio.com (Very expensive)

www.netandhost.com (India based provider. You got online registration. Your shared hosting will be activated instantly if your pay thru credit card)

www.melbourneit.com(Australian Provider)
