I have a website on geocities that I%26#039;m thinking of moving to an actual server with its own domain name. Assuming that I use Yahoo or Google Adsense, around how many hits per month would I need in order to at least break even (i.e., cover the domain registration and other costs associated with hosting the site)? I%26#039;m just looking for a rough idea of whether it%26#039;s feasible or not. Thanks.
Breaking even on a website?
The domain should only cost you 8-9$ a YEAR, hosting should not cost you more then 6$ a month to start out.
Depending on if your selling something, or working off advertisements on your site, it depends a lot.
If you need a host, I would suggest montecarlohosting.net
If you want, you can tell them xtechforum.com recommended you, and i think i get a month for free if you sign up.
Support is great, never had to wait more then an hour, even late at night for e-mail support, usually get a response within 5-10minites with at least a update. Servers are very fast and more reliable then my other hosts I have tried, You dont get as much storage as some other places for the money, but it always WORKS unlike others. Plus its FAST.
Don%26#039;t expect to break even the first month or two, after that it%26#039;ll start going up and up and your ratings on search engines get up higher and your site gets a little more well known.
